Tutorial 3: The Bouncing Ball with Better Motion
- Create a bouncing ball as described here.
- Now select the motion tool . You will notice two new tools appear. The add bones tool and the motion edit tool .
- Select the add bones tool .
- Click and drag a vertical line in the middle of the circle on frame 1. You will notice a green bone with two joints appears on the screen. You can adjust the position of the bone by moving the joints with the motion edit tool.
- Select the motion edit tool and click in the middle of the bone to select it. The bone will turn yellow when selected.
-
With the bone selected, click and drag a box around the circle to attach it to the bone. You should now have a yellow bone and a yellow selected circle. If either is not yellow, reselect the bone and try again.
NOTE: if you drag a box where nothing is selected, no lines will be attached to the bone. IE you will be left with only a yellow bone and no yellow lines. -
Once you have both a yellow bone and yellow lines, perform a single click WITHOUT DRAGGING away from the selected bone. You have now attached the circle to the bone.
NOTE: multiple lines may be attached to a single bone and a line may be attached to more than one bone. - Now move the time line marker back and forth the top of the time line to watch the bones. Note how a bone automatically appears in the other two key frames. The bone may not be positioned how you would like within the other circles, so go ahead and use the edit motion tool to reposition the joints of the bones.
- Now move back to frame 1 and drag a box around the joints with the edit motion tool. You will notice that two purple lines show up. Adjusting these lines will adjust the paths of the bone joints.
- Click and drag on the purple lines to adjust their shape. This describes the path they will take between frame 1 and frame 11.
- Do the same for frame 11 to adjust the path between frames 11 and 21.
- Click play and watch it go! Well it is much better now, but the timing is all wrong. The next tutorial will explain how to adjust the timing.
